Secular Micro Grants operates two initial funding tracks designed for verified operating businesses and promising young innovators across Uganda.
Established Business Grant
Targeted capital injection of UGX 3,000,000 for verified, actively operating Ugandan businesses seeking expansion, inventory, equipment, and sustainable job creation.
Key Eligibility Criteria:
- Operating Revenue: Average gross monthly revenue of UGX 3,000,000 – UGX 10,000,000 over recent reporting period.
- Bank Statements: Recent business bank statements showing regular commercial transactions.
- Ownership & Identity: Valid identification (NIN/Passport) and proof of legal/beneficial business ownership.
- Business Plan & Budget: Clear, itemized use of the UGX 3,000,000 facility and job creation forecast.
100-Point Scoring Breakdown:
Young Entrepreneur Grant
Catalytic non-repayable grant of UGX 3,000,000 for visionary Ugandan youth aged 18–30 with innovative ideas, seed-stage startups, or early-stage enterprises.
Key Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Limit: Age between 18 and 30 years at application (configurable by management).
- Idea / Startup Stage: Revenue threshold waived for genuine early-stage founders.
- Market Demand Evidence: Customer research, surveys, pre-orders, letters of intent, or pilot test results.
- Budget Realism: Realistic plan demonstrating full utilization of UGX 3,000,000 to launch or expand.

Our 3 active judges and 1 trained reserve judge evaluate applications with blind identifiers. Judges cannot view other judges' scores until closing, and the fee amount is hidden.

Assess merit using the published 100-point rubric. Must sign conflict declarations. Reassigned to reserve judge upon material connection.
2. Verification Officers
Verify government IDs, bank statements, premises, and commercial registrations. Screen for duplicate submissions and fraudulent alteration.
3. Finance Maker / Checker
Strict two-person rule. The Finance Maker preparing a payment packet cannot be its approver. Checker provides independent release.
4. Program Administration
Coordinates weekly intake, enforces Friday 4:00 PM pool freeze, manages Saturday 4:00 PM transparency reports and audit compliance.
